President Museveni donates Shs 20m for construction of Lira Diocese Bishop’s residence

Vice president Maj. Rtd. Jessica Alupo has expressed government commitment to working with church institutions to strengthen poverty alleviation efforts.
Jessica Alupo made the remarks during the diocesan celebration and fundraising of Bishop’s house construction at Lira cathedral, ordination grounds Yesterday.
She said government recognizes the church in nation building and will work hand in hand with them to fight poverty among Ugandan households.
She handed over 20 million Ugandan shillings from the president to support the construction of the Bishop’s residence.
The minister of Health, Dr.Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero applauded Christians who contributed towards this noble cause. She handed over her personal Ugx 10 million and another Ugx 15 million shillings from the speaker of parliament Anita Among.
The senior presidential advisor Francis Okello Opio asked Jessica Alupo to make a follow up on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s unfulfilled pledge of Ugx 400M for construction of the Bishop’s house and parking yard, 6 tractors and excavators for the six deaneries and 70 iron sheets for each of the 80 priests in Lira diocese.
The Vice President, Alupo further promised to follow up on these outstanding pledges.
