Mandela Millers receives prestigious food safety certification

Mandela Millers has on Friday received the prestigious ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System Certifications from the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).

The certification, in which Mandela Millers became the first recipient in the grain processing category, was handed over by the UNBS Deputy Executive Director in charge of Standards, Patricia Bageine Ejolu at the company’s factory in Kampala.

The UNBS Deputy Executive Director said the certification is a win for the whole country since the Supreme products on the market have been confirmed to have passed all the quality standards from sourcing the raw materials to the final consumables.

“I am glad to state that the milestone Mandela Millers has achieved today to get this certification is a win for the whole country. Now we are certain that their goods on the market have met the quality standards and we shall have a healthy population,” she said.

Patricia Ejolu also appealed to other companies in the food industry to follow in the footsteps of Mandela Millers and also aim to raise the safety standards and control to obtain ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System Certification.

Hajji Omar Mandela, the Chairman of Mandela Millers said during the ceremony that the certification milestone is a result of hard work by his colleagues and support from the customers across the country.

“We are privileged to receive this certification award and I must thank our committed team at Mandela Millers for the job well done. Importantly, the support of our distinguished customers who have kept us moving since 2018 when we ventured into the market.

Mandela Millers produces Supreme premium wheat flour and maize flour.
