43 perish in road crashes in Lango within three months

43 people have died in road crashes in Lango over the past three months.

According to North Kyoga police spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, from April to June of this year, there were 87 serious injuries and 30 minor injuries in addition to the fatalities.

A total of 158 accident cases were recorded in Lango during this period.

Lira registered 12, accidents, Dokolo 10, Apac 5, Kole 4, Alebtong 3, Amolatar 2, Kwania 1, Otuke 1, and Oyam 1.

Okema attributes these road crashes to disregard for traffic rules and regulations, over speeding, overloading, and poor road conditions.

Notable accident cases include one involving students from Otuke district, where one student died and seven others were injured, as well as another in Dokolo district where a 16-year-old student died.

The report also indicates that 233 people have been nursing injuries from accidents that occurred within this period.
