Lack of fuel hinders Dokolo District task force from executing work on fight against Mpox virus

Leaders of Dokolo district Task force that is spearheading the fight against the Mpox virus have decried lack of fuel to ease their movement to trace Mpox contacts in the District.

They made the revelation yesterday at Dokolo District council Hall at a meeting to discuss the spread of the Mpox virus in Dokolo District.

Eugene Odongo the assistant Dokolo District health officer said they lack fuel to facilitate the District Surveillance officer to trace Mpox contacts.

Odongo said recently they were lacking motorcycles to support the transportation of the surveillance team, but after repairing motorcycles at shs1million, they now still lack fuel to run them.

He called for support from government to ease the fight against Mpox in Dokolo district.

Barbra Akec, the RDC of Dokolo District also the district Task force chairperson asked NGOs to come out and support them in the fight against Mpox virus.

Francis Ogwal Nam the secretary for production and marketing of Dokolo District who represented the district chairman pledged commitment to join hands with health workers in the fight against Mpox.

Dokolo District registered 1 Mpox case, while 18 contacts are under investigation.
