Man arrested in Amolatar District over alleged murder of his 4-year-old child

Police of Amolatar District have arrested a 25- year -old man over alleged murder of his four year old biological child.

The suspect, Ocen Onoi a local of Aliga, Abwong Parish, Arwotcek Sub County, was seen by locals moving with the child before the body was discovered later dumped in a swamp.

According to report, the body of the child was found by children who went fishing in the swamp, packed in a sack and dumped in the water.

The children reported the matter to authorities who arrested the deceased’s father, and the suspect confessed to murdering the child.

Locals said the suspect was renowned for drug abuse, alcoholism mistreatment of his children and had separated with his wife.

Ojok Aliga the area LC1 chairman, confirmed the incident and said Ocen has been detained at Amolatar Central Police Station.

Tom Ogwal the LC3 chairman of Arwotcek condemned the incident and warned parents against child abuse.

Amolatar DPC, SP Christopher Katumba confirmed this report and said investigation has been launched into the matter.

Katumba said the body of the deceased has been conveyed to Amolatar Health Center 4 for a postmortem.
