UCI Ebola suspect tests negative

A student from Uganda Christian Institute (UCI) in Lira City, who was suspected of contracting the Ebola virus, has tested negative for the disease.
Lira Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Lawrence Egole confirmed that the student’s blood samples, taken from Buyende District, were tested in Mbale and returned negative for Ebola. The student had been placed in quarantine pending the results.
Egole emphasized the need for continued vigilance, urging the public to take necessary precautions against both the Ebola and Mpox viruses
The Assistant RCC of Lira City, Bonny Ferdinand Okello Alele, who also serves as a board member of UCI, reassured parents of students at the school, stressing that there is no Ebola case at the institution. Isaac Ayo, the Principal of UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery, assured the public that the institution is doing everything possible to ensure the health and safety of students
