40 Youths from Apac Set to Join Vocational Training at Lango Skilling Hub

At least 40 young people from Apac District and Apac Municipality are set to begin vocational training at the Lango Presidential Zonal Skilling Hub in Lira City.
The group, comprising 22 boys and 18 girls aged between 18 and 32, will be equipped with practical skills to enhance their employment prospects and support their communities.
According to breakdowns, 11 girls and 9 boys come from Apac District, while 7 girls and 13 boys are from Apac Municipality.
Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony, Apac Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Jonal Okot—who represented RDC Andrew Onyuk—commended parents for supporting the government’s skilling initiative.
He also expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his continued commitment to youth empowerment.
“We thank the President for putting youth at the center of national development by promoting vocational training,” Okot said.
The incoming trainees will pursue hands-on courses in carpentry and joinery, tailoring and garment cutting, shoemaking, hairdressing, and other trades aimed at promoting self-reliance and job creation.
Since its establishment, the Lango Skilling Hub has trained and graduated over 200 youths from Apac District, equipping them with skills to start businesses and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to tackle unemployment and empower young people with relevant, marketable skills.
