The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has denied allegations of carrying out politically motivated arrests.

This comes at a time when the Unit has been arresting individuals suspected of embezzling funds meant for cattle compensation for Lango war claimants.

The Unit’s legal officer, Samuel Arinaitwe, said the arrests are based on intelligence gathered over the past year to identify suspects believed to be involved in the misappropriation of these funds.

Arinaitwe explained that in Lango, there were reports of unscrupulous individuals defrauding war claimants by withdrawing funds from their accounts and giving them less than what they were entitled to.

He also revealed that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to visit the Lango sub-region, where locals will have an opportunity to voice their concerns about the cattle compensation process.

Two weeks ago, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit arrested six individuals in Lango, suspected of being involved in the theft of compensation funds from war claimants’ accounts.
