Kwania District Lands Department has received land management equipment worth Shs120 million from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development under the ‘Strengthen Land Management’ initiative.

The consignment includes a computer and modern land survey equipment, part of a pilot project being implemented in 12 districts across the country.

Jaspher Denis Amuka, the Senior Land Management Officer and Secretary to the Kwania District Land Board, welcomed the donation, saying it will greatly ease their work.

He said they have been hiring survey equipment at Shs250, 000 per day, and the support will reduce their expenditures.

Isaac Mweru Hirya, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), said the equipment will help reduce land disputes in the district.

He urged district staff to put the equipment to good use and encouraged residents to take advantage of the ‘Strengthen Land Management’ initiative to register their land.

So far, 600 people have expressed interest in registering their land under the program.

According to Amuka, the response improved among locals after the registration fee was reduced to Shs500,000/- for land not exceeding five acres.
