{"id":3148,"date":"2022-09-26T11:15:13","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T08:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vol.co.ug\/?p=3148"},"modified":"2022-09-26T11:15:15","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T08:15:15","slug":"speaker-among-rallies-leaders-to-support-vulnerable-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vol.co.ug\/index.php\/2022\/09\/26\/speaker-among-rallies-leaders-to-support-vulnerable-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Speaker Among rallies leaders to support vulnerable people"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Denis Okello (denis.okello@vol.co.ug)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kampala<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaker of parliament Anita Annet Among has tasked MPs and other leaders to support vulnerable people.<br><br>Anita Among made the call in her message through \u00a0Bardege- Layibi MP Martin Ojara Mapenduzi during a fundraise organized by Alebtong district woman MP Dorcus Acen for the construction of a vocational school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said MPs and other leaders should support vulnerable people in the society who have been left on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anita Among said the move by MP Dorcus Acen to establish the Dorcus foundation for relief and development to benefit school drop outs should serve as an example to other people to support the disadvantaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anitta Among made a contribution of 30 million shillings to support this cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alebtong district chairman David Kennedy Odongo said the vocational school will go a long way to improve the lives of people who dropped out of school due to the past wars experienced in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alebtong resident district commissioner John Robert Adiama Ekaju said leaders should support the less privileged among them, adding that most of the street kids in Kampala hail from Lango, Teso and Karamoja and should be supported to get educated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David Pulkol the board chairman, Dorcus foundation for relief and development said they acquired land for establishing, Alebtong skills and empowerment center which is expected to open soon.<br><br>Alebtong district woman MP Dorcus Acen said the vocational school will offer trainings in catering, baking, tailoring, decoration, and hair dressing among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rose Akol who represented MPs from the East Africa Legislative Assembly thanked MP Docus Acen for supporting the school drop outs and handed over \u00a02 million shillings for this cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 150 million shillings was realized from the fundraising.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Denis Okello (denis.okello@vol.co.ug) Kampala Speaker of parliament Anita Annet Among has tasked MPs and other leaders to support vulnerable people.
