{"id":3192,"date":"2022-10-17T12:21:43","date_gmt":"2022-10-17T09:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vol.co.ug\/?p=3192"},"modified":"2022-10-17T12:21:44","modified_gmt":"2022-10-17T09:21:44","slug":"tekwaro-lango-faction-opens-up-for-talks-with-lango-cultural-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vol.co.ug\/index.php\/2022\/10\/17\/tekwaro-lango-faction-opens-up-for-talks-with-lango-cultural-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"Tekwaro Lango faction opens up for talks with Lango cultural foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Lira<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Denis Okello (denis.okello@vol.co.ug)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leadership of Tekwaro has welcomed the proposed move by Lango Cultural Foundation for mediation as a measure to resolve the perennial dispute that has since sucked the leadership of the two rival cultural institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tekwaro Lango has however placed four demands to their rivals as conditions before commencement of the planned mediation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing reporters on the 14th-10-2022 at the Tekwaro Lango offices located on Oyam Road, Lira City, the Clerk to Council, Rev. Martin Odongo says they are willing to participate in the proposed dialogue aimed at uniting the two cultural factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rev. Martin Odongo says, their interest is to ensure there is peaceful coexistence and that in the end they want Lango to have only one cultural leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Odongo, for the mediation to bear fruits, they want Mzee Yosam Odur Ebii to step down and that Dr. Micheal Moses Odongo Okune should also relinquish power for a period of one year to give Owitong time to form a new government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also lashed at the recent plans to review the constitution, describing it as a waste of time because the constitutional review process ended in 2016 and was successfully gazzeted by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister of Lango Cultural Foundation, James Ajal when contacted welcomed the move saying mediation is the only tenable solution at hand now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Odongo however castigated some people who he said are sponsoring some people with money to sustain the fight against them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lira By Denis Okello (denis.okello@vol.co.ug) The leadership of Tekwaro has welcomed the proposed move by&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":3196,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":true,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[51,35,5,4,30],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v18.3 -
