Minister of local government Rafael Magezi has advised councilors of Lira district to formally report to his office, the alleged disappearance of the district chairman, RCM Okello Orik for action to be taken into the matter.
Rafael Magyezi told Voice of Lango in an interview last evening that the law demands that a public office holder may be replaced if he or she takes too long out of office.
He said he was not aware of the absence of Okello Orik in office and only heard about it from Voice of Lango.
RCM Okello Orik has been out of office for close to two months and it is reported to be undergoing treatment for an ailment in the hospital.
Recently, some councilors of Lira district threatened to launch a process to remove Richard Cox Max Okello Orik from office for being away without official leave.
Denis Owera the councilor of Itek Sub County, said they got reports that Okello Orik is not in the hospital as being claimed but that the district chairman is in Kampala trying to fight off the case of defilement opened against him in Gulu city dating back to 2006.
