Alebtong Residents to Enjoy Improved Acess to Clean Water

The government has confirmed plans to extend piped water to six sub-counties and four town councils in Alebtong District, in a project aimed at improving access to clean water.
The development was revealed by Alebtong district chairman, DK. Odongo, during the district’s belated women’s day celebrations event held at Anara Primary School in Aloi Sub-county yesterday.
The project will be implemented by RSK Consultancy Firm, in partnership with the Ministry of Water and Environment, which has already surveyed the target areas.
China Harbour Engineering Company has been contracted to execute the project.
According to DK. Odongo, the Ministry of Water will work alongside National Water and Sewerage Corporation to ensure water supply to the identified areas, drawing water from Kachung dam in Dokolo District to Alebtong.
The targeted sub-counties include Abako, Amugo, Awei, Aloi, Akura, and Apala, while the town councils are Amugo, Aloi, and Alebtong.
Alebtong District Woman MP, Docus Acen, praised the government’s efforts in promoting women’s empowerment and urged women to embrace hard work and actively contribute to development, just like their male counterparts.
During the event, Dr. Mercy Lakisa officially declared her intention to contest for Alebtong woman MP seat in 2026 elections.
Christine Acen the former Alebtong district woman MP also used the occasion to reaffirm plans to reclaim her former position.
Alebtong Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Godfrey Okiswa, who was chief guest at the event, presided over the passing out of 900 students who had successfully completed their Patriotism training program.
He praised the initiative for instilling discipline, national pride, and leadership skills among the youth.
