President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has summoned Lango MPs to the state house ahead of their planned demonstration over the poor state of Lira-Kamdini road.

MPs under Lango Lango Parliamentary Group recently announced a planned peaceful demonstration slated for this Saturday to show their dissatisfaction over government’s failure to work on the road that has for long remained in a dilapidated state.

The general secretary, Lango parliamentary group also Kole North MP Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti told Voice of Lango FM that the president has summoned their executive for a meeting at 2pm today to discuss matters of development in Lango.

He said they want the president to not only meet the MPs from Lango but to come to Lango and give assurance to the people on matters of development of the region.

Opio said Lango is grappling with several development challenges besides Lira-Kamdini road, citing other roads in poor state like Dokolo-Namasale, Lira-Aloi-Otuke to Abim and Aboke via Iceme-Ngai to Bobi.

He said in the health sector, Lango is lagging behind in the allocation of district hospitals where Lango has only one district hospital compared to other regions like Acholi with three, Teso four, West Nile four and Karamoja that has three district hospitals.
