A section of fourteen members of Parliament from Lango have split from Lango Parliamentary Group to form a splinter caucus.
The 14 legislators accused the chairperson of Lango Parliamentary group also Kole District woman MP, Judith Alyek and a group of MPs who met president Museveni on Saturday in Loro,Oyam District over Lira-Kamdini road stalemate of taking bribes.
These MPs elected Kyoga County MP Okot B’Tek who has been the vice chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group as their de facto chairperson.
The MPs who have split from Lango Parliamentary Group are; MP Kwania County, Tonny Ayo, MP Apac Municipality, Patrick Ocan, MP Erute South, Jonathan Odur, MP Kole South Peter Ocen Akalo, MP Otuke, Paul Omara, woman MP Otuke Susan Abeja, woman MP Alebtong, Docus Acen, Mp Erute North, Christine Akello, Eng. Okello Lemba, MP Maruzi north, MP Lira City West Division Shedrick Ebong Eyit, woman MP Amolatar District Dr Agnes Atim Apea, woman MP Kwania District Kenny Auma Lapat among others.
The group chairperson also Kyoga MP Okot B’Tek who addressed journalists yesterday, 23rd/Jan/2022 said they decided to leave Lango Parliamentary Group after they got reports that the MPs who met the president in Alidi Primary school in Loro, Oyam district were bribed and did not represent the agreed resolutions of Lango Parliamentary Group at the meeting.
Voice of Lango FM could not independently verify this bribery allegations.
Okot B’Tek accused the chairperson Lango Parliamentary Group, Judith Alyek of presenting before the president her person views pertaining to Lira-Kamdini road but not the actual resolution of Lango Parliamentary Group.
Alebtong district woman MP, Dorcus Acen said Lango sub region is faced with serious challenges that need urgent government attention and expressed dismay that some of the leaders were not doing enough in exposing these challenges for redress.
Effort to speak to Lango Parliamentary Group chairperson Judith Alyek to respond to these allegations was futile as her known telephone phone number was switched off by press time.
