President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will launch the livestock compensation program of the war claimants in Lango, Teso and Acholi on the 26th of March 2022.
The revelation was made Friday afternoon by the Chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group Judith Alyek who is also Kole District Woman Member of Parliament during the enthronement of the Bishop of Elim Pentecostal Church for Northern Uganda at Lira City Mayor’s garden.
According to Alyek, President Museveni will launch the compensation program at Soroti University before rolling it out to other beneficiaries in Lango, Acholi and Teso Sub regions.
Government has earmarked UGX 150 Billion for the compensation program where each of the sub-regions of Teso, Lango and Acholi will get 50 Billion shillings.
Recently the Attorney General Chambers, district leaders have been conducting a joint verification and validation exercise of the enlisted beneficiaries to ensure the rightful beneficiaries get the payments.
The President also exempted the requirement of Tax Identification Numbers(TIN) for verification of the beneficiaries and instead directed that National Identification Cards be used.
