Lira City.
The authorities of Lira City Council have given a five days’ ultimatum to street vendors especially those operating on pavements to leave the street.
In a notice dated 15th March 2022 addressed to the business community the general public authored by the Town Clerk of Lira City Edward Kiwanuka, no business shall be transacted on pavements, walk ways and streets.
Kiwanuka has also directed that there should be no display of merchandise in front of shops or business premises.
The decision to ban street vending according to the Town Clerk followed numerous complaints from the general public and road users who have been involved in accidents since the path ways cannot be accessed.
According to Kiwanuka those who will defy the directive will face the long arm of the law and will be evicted forcefully from the street.
