Anti-corruption court releases Lira district staff, businessman arrested over corruption

The anti-corruption court has released on bail, three staff of Lira district and the proprietor of Jerusalem school of health sciences Peter Okodo who were arrested over connivance to sale public land.
The three staff of Lira district whom court released yesterrday are; Fabius Otike the district natural resource officer, Joseph Ocen Alwong, senior lands officer, the chairperson area land committee of Ojwina Eram Bazil Opio. Okodo was equally released on bail.
Otike, Ocen Alwong and Eram are accused of receiving a bribe from Peter Okodo to execute fraudulent sale of plot 41, church road located near Lira regional referral hospital where the latter has established his Galilee pharmacy.
They appeared in court recently and were remanded to Luzira prison.
The four yesterday appeared before the grade one magistrate of the ant-corruption court Herbert Assimwe and applied for court bail.
Assimwe released Otike, Ocen Alwong on cash bail of 1.5 million shillings while their sureties were told to pay 10 million shillings should they disappear.
Peter Okodo was also released on one million shillings cash bail and his sureties will also pay 10 million shillings should he disappear or fail to return to court.
The four are expected to return to court on 31/10/2022.
