Police of Omoro Sub County, have mounted a search for the councilor of Oculokori parish over the death of a man who was assaulted by locals at Omoro market over allegation of witchcraft.

It is alleged that the deceased identified as Ojingkome on Tuesday visited a health facility at Omoro trading center with his personal drugs and asked a nurse to inject him, but the nurse turned down his request.

Ojingkoma reportedly touched the nurse’s arm and she started experiencing pain.

Ojingkoma later fled but the councilor of Oculokori parish Geoffrey Okello Dyangkala and other locals reportedly pursued Ojingkoma, arrested him and returned him back to the health facility where he was made to remove the charms he inflicted on the nurse.

Omoro Sub County chairman Isaac Apenyo Okwas said angry locals later beat up Ojingkoma seriously and he was rescued by Lt. Col. Denis Goi Alele who took him to Omoro police station from where he died.

Apenyo said Geoffrey Okello alias Okello Ajebi is among those accused of killing Ojingkoma whose cause of death has been linked to injuries he suffered after being assaulted by locals.

Apenyo said the relatives of Ojingkoma launched a search for Okello Ajepi but upon citing him at Omoro SS, Ajepi fled and has been in hiding.

He warned people of Omoro Sub County against taking the law into their own hands.

Effort to speak to Okello Geoffrey Ajepi was futile as he his phone was switched off by press time.
