Lira resident state attorney remanded to Luzira prison

The Anti-corruption court has remanded Lira resident state attorney Peter Amalu to Luzira prison on allegation of theft of office property.
Recently, Justice Jane Frances Abodo the Director, Public Prosecution (DPP) consented to charges of embezzlement preferred against him by police in relation to alleged theft of office property including a portrait President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Yesterday, Amalu appeared before the Chief Magistrate of the anti-corruption court Joan Aciro where charges of theft of four fans, two filing cabinets, one water dispenser and presidential portrait from his office while he served as the resident state attorney of Dokolo district between 2021 to 2022. He however, denied the charges.
It is said that the property reportedly stolen by Amalu are worth shs10 million.
The Chief Magistrate of the anti-corruption court Joan Achiro remanded Amalu to Luzira.
