Ministry of Health seizes Lira district vehicles over poor performance in service delivery

Ministry of health has seized two vehicles it had given Lira district following poor performance in service delivery.
According to a service delivery report released by ministry of health on 2nd November 2023 at Speke Resort hotel Munyonyo –Kampala, Lira district tailed among 146 district whose performance were gauged in 2022/2023 financial year, registering 51%.
Today, officials from ministry of health were in Lira district to seize the vehicles that the ministry had donated to the district for the purpose of supporting immunization under Gavi project.
When contacted for comments on the matter, Lira district CAO Ismael Ochengel said he was still busy.
Lira district chairman Okello Orik said ministry of health has for long been demanding for the vehicles from Lira district over poor health service delivery.

Okello Orik said Lira district health department had four vehicles and now the health workers will use the remaining one under serious supervision.

Lira district vice chairman Omara Bonny said the vehicles belonged to the DHO and his assistant in charge maternal health.
