Lira City.

The Minister of Lands Housing and urban development Judith Nabakooba has suspended all officials of Lira district land board with immediate effect.

In her letter dated 4th February 2022 to the Chief Administrative Officer of Lira and LCV Chairperson which Voice of Lango FM has seen a copy,Nabakooba says she has received complaints of misconduct involving corruption ,influence peddling against members of Lira district land board.

According to the Minister, the nature of allegation translates to question of moral turpitude against the officials serving on the board where she is the approving officer of such appointments.

Nabakooba says the suspension will pave way for investigations into the allegations and new members to be nominated for appointments and approved by her.

She has also asked the minister of state for lands to guide the district land the city on effective process of nominating new members on the district land board within a month time.

This follows an incident in which the secretary to the district land board Francis Okello Olwa was arrested on allegations of ferrying important documents of the land board in his personal car.

Attempt to get a comment from the CAO of Lira Ben Ogwete Otim was futile by press time.
