A meeting of Amolatar district with school head teachers and school management committee of government aided primary schools has given 14 days ultimatum to the CAO, DEO and district engineer to refund the money they collected from schools for ferrying building materials which were transported using government vehicles.

Amolatar district chairman Geoffrey Ocen yesterday held a meeting with the school head teachers and the school heads claimed that they were summoned to the office of the CAO who directed that they were not supposed to use the funds they received from the government worth over Shs 220M for refurbishing schools for procurement of building materials as everything was supposed to be handled by the district authority.

The meeting followed complaints that the contract to procure building materials for the schools was awarded to Alaba Dorcas investments yet schools were supposed to procure their own building materials for renovation of school structures.

Ocen said the meeting resolved that the district CAO, DEO and engineer should refund the money they collected from head teachers within 14 days and the building materials that were transported using government vehicles should be forfeited as good will.

Ocen said the meeting further resolved that the police CID of Amolatar central police station launches investigation into the matter and brings to book all those implicated in the mess.

Effort to speak to Amolatar district CAO was futile as he did not answer our phone calls.
