A section of leaders in Otuke County in Otuke district have put the area MP Paul Omara on his toes over allegation of influencing a decision to change a resolution to upgrade  Okwang health center 3 using his status as a Member of Parliament.

The leaders say that some leaders of Otuke district and councilors made a resolution to upgrade Okwang health center 3 to a health center 4 status but recently the names of Barjobi health center 3 appeared in the national gazette as the health facility to be upgraded instead.

They also accuse MP Paul Omara of individually identifying Okwang secondary school among those to be taken over by the government for rehabilitation and expansion.

Simon Obong the LC3 chairman of Adwari Sub County said they last week got communication that Okwang SS is among schools to benefit from the new developments leaving out Adwari SS which has been registering very good performance and with high enrollment of students.

Obong who doubles as chairperson of all LC3s in Otuke said after getting this information he called the district woman Otuke Susan Abeja for clarity but her phone did not go through.

Obong alleged that when he called MP Paul Omara, the legislator said he had decided on behalf of the district over which school to be refurbished and expanded when asked by the ministry of education and sports to identify one school to benefit from the same.

Obong said such decision will dwindle developments in the district since Paul Omara as an MP is not consulting locals and leaders.

He said the upgrade of Barjobi health center 3 was also influenced by MP Paul Omara because it is within their home area much as Okwang health center 3 is strategically located to benefit the people of Otuke county and parts of Acholi Sub Region.

Dick Okello the LC3 chairman of Okwang town council said that Okwang health center 3 should have been upgraded to benefit more people.

He accused Omara Paul of conniving with ministry of health officials to change a resolution to upgrade of Okwang HC3.

However MP Paul Omara said the government could have considered Barjobi HC3 due to its long existence.

Omara also said Adwari secondary school has for long benefited from government support and it was prudent that such developments are extended to other areas.

Omara cautioned people against promoting divisionism over distribution of developments which are meant to benefit all citizens.
