Otuke
Otuke district has confirmed receipt of funds to pay councilors who recently declined to approve the district budget for the financial year 2022/23 over unpaid arrears.
The 16 councilors who are from the newly created sub-counties and town councils recently claimed that they have not received allowances which had accumulated for eight months.
The district council speaker of Otuke Lameck Ogwal told Voice of Lango fm that he was informed by the chief administrative officer that the councilors’ money was disbursed to the district account in Bank of Uganda.
Ogwal said the councilors are expected to receive the money by Tuesday next week thereafter; he will convene a council meeting to approve the budget before Wednesday as law requires.
