Minister Aceng decries lack of gov’t support to born again churches

Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has decried low support by the government to born-again churches.

Speaking during the distribution of 400 iron sheets to truth evangelistic fountain church, railway, Lira city east division, to support the construction of the church Mission Cathedral by state minister for northern Uganda, Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng said the born again churches are struggling on their own without much support from the government and the president, unlike the catholic and Anglican churches that are enjoying numerous benefits from the government.

Dr. Aceng who is a member of Victory Outreach Church said she raised a similar concern with the president who told her that her that the born-again are not well organized and it has become difficult to support them.

Minister Aceng asked Christians to embrace hard work to better their lives as opposed to only prayers

Dr. Aceng said she requested for the iron sheets from minister Kwiyucwiny; she also donated 5 million Ugandan shillings to the church.

The Bishop of Truth Evangelistic Fountain ministries, Rev. Dr. James Okalo Ekwang said the mission cathedral will have a 5,000 seater capacity and is being built in thanksgiving to God for bringing to an end, the two-decade LRA insurgency

Bishop Okalo also decried poor support to the church institution by the government much as it plays a great role in nation building and moral preservation.

The chairperson, Lira pastors and elders fellowship pastor Johnson Ogema said the church has contributed to development through establishment of schools and hotels among others to create jobs.

Minister Kwiyucwuny donated 1 million Ugandan shillings to support the church to construct the mission cathedral.
