Health workers of Lira University Teaching Hospital have laid down their tools to demand for salary enhancement.
The health workers who include nurses, midwives and radiologists among others have maintained that they will carry on with industrial action until their salaries are increased, just like the case with health workers of other public universities.
Ocwa Phylis the secretary, National Union of Educational Institutions Lira University Branch told a press conference at Grand Pacific Hotel, that the ministry of public service had directed Lira University to increase their salaries to the same tune with other public universities but this has not come to pass.
Ocwa accuses some leaders of Lango of dining with the university vice chancellor, leaving Lira University teaching hospital without any attention.
Jimmy Okeng the association chairperson called for government intervention into salary issues at the university.
Lira University public relations officer, Patrick Opio said all is being done to address the matter.
