Amolatar Court remands three over theft of newly born child

Amolatar grade one magistrate’s court has remanded to prison three people including a female and two males over allegations of stealing a newly born child from Amolatar Health Center IV.
The trio who were charged on Thursday before Amolatar Grade One Magistrate’s Court presided over by Hassan Butoto Masaba include; Stella Akullo, Obote Miss and Ongengo Jackson.
Last week, Police from Amolatar Central Police Station arrested Stella Akullo over allegations of stealing a newly born child from the maternity ward at Amolatar Health Center IV.
According to Police, on the 24th of May 2024, unidentified woman stole a baby girl from the ward immediately after her delivery.
Obote Miss and Ongengo Jackson were also arrested for aiding the crime after it emerged that they connived and allegedly paid Akullo shs 50,000 to help them get a new born baby for human sacrifice.
The matter was registered at Amolatar Central Police Station under SD Ref: 02/24/05/2024.
On Thursday Akullo,Obote and Ongengo were charged before the Amolatar grade one magistrate court presided over by Hasson Butoto Masaba.
The presiding magistrate did not allow the trio to take plea as his court lacks the jurisdiction and further remanded them until 19th June 2024, where they will return to court for mention of the case.
