A group of ladies from Lango who are enthusiastic about the Lango cultural heritage have organized a beauty pageant contest to elect miss Lango.
According to the organizers, the Lango beauty pageant contest will take place in May 2022 in the sub-region’s capital Lira City.
The deputy speaker of Lira City Council who is the reigning Miss Tourism for Northern Uganda and the chief organizer of the event says the pageant will attract 27 contestants of which each of the nine districts will send three representatives.
Among says the event is organized purposely to promote Lango culture and heritage to the world.
The interested contestants will pick nomination forms from the media houses and will it free of charge.
The secretary for National Youth Council Paskwel Acio who is a member of the organizing committee says ladies who are in the age bracket of 18 to 26 and are not mothers will be eligible to contest.
In March this year,Giovanah Achieng a student of Mbarara University of Science and Technology was crowned miss Lira City after defeating six other contestants.
