Lango NGOs to solicit food for people affected by hunger in Otuke

Non-Governmental Organizations in Lango have resolved to solicit for food for the people of Otuke district who are grappling with serious hunger.

In their meeting held at Lira NGO Forum offices in Adyel-Lira city West division yesterday, the NGO’s came up with strategies to be used to acquire food for the people of Otuke which includes; getting data of the most affected people, strengthening disaster preparedness committees of different districts, and applying different means to solicit for food.

Executive director of Lira NGO forum Dickens Ogwal said they plan to raise food from well-wishers to feed the hungry in Lango and mostly Otuke district.

Executive director, Lango Youth Development Network LAYDNET Moses Otim said the organization has plans to purchase 20 tons of beans, 10 tons of maize flour and 5000 liters of cooking oil to benefit this category.

Some NGOs including Lira NGO Forum, Joint Clinical RESEARCH Centre- JCRC, FINAPS, Red Cross, and LAYDNET were selected to spearhead the food collection drive.
