Police in Oyam district is investigating the Town Clerk of Oyam Town Council Tony Nixson Obua over loss of 34 million shillings.
This follows last week”s directive by the Resident District Commissioner of Oyam William Komakech after discovering that most roads in Oyam Town Council had not been worked on much as government has sent 111,000,000 shillings for this purpose.
RDC Komakech summoned the District Engineer of Oyam Robert Owiny and Tony Nixon Obua the Town Clerk of Oyam Town Council to respond to the poor state of roads in Oyam town council which they failed to account for with the 34 million shillings sent.
However, Obua accused Oyam town council for pressurizing him to divert the funds to pay councilor’s allowances, procurement of Tri-Cycle for garbage collection, and payment of seven ghost civil servants of Oyam town council.
Stephen Okello the LC3 of Oyam Town Council denied allegation levied against the town council, saying Obua has for long been on the spot over misuse of funds.
Geoffrey Matwale the OC CID of Oyam said investigation into the matter is ongoing while Obua has been released on bail.
