Shock as Dokolo woman kills 2-year-old son for eating piece of sweet potato

Police in Dokolo District has arrested a woman accused of strangling to death, her two and half year old son for eating a piece of raw sweet potato.
Donald Odur, a local of Adok Sub County said they got reports on Friday at around 11 in the morning that their neighbor, Harriet Agili a resident of Odeo, Adok had strangled to death, her son, Maxwell Okori.
Odur said Agili strangled the child after he had picked a piece of raw sweet potato which was among those she was peeling for cooking and ate.
The Officer in charge Adok Police Station Sgt. Geoffrey Owani confirmed Agili’s arrest, saying that the suspect after killing the child took the body and abandoned it under a tree to make people believe that he had hanged himself.
Agili later reported to people that her son had hanged himself upon being put under pressure by locals, she acknowledged killing him.
Dokolo District Police Commander Patience Baganzi confirmed the arrest of Apili as investigation into the matter continues.
Baganzi attributes the incident on a domestic misunderstanding that could have compelled Agili to commit such a heinous act.
Agili who is being held at Dokolo Central Police Station has been charged with murder vide SD 05/11/08/2023 while the body of her child is being kept at Dokolo Health Center IV, awaiting a postmortem.
