Kole district chairman who doubles as vice president, Uganda local government association for northern Uganda, Andrew Moses Awany has expressed displeasure with delays in construction of Akii Bua stadium that government said is due to financial constraints.

Awany Moses in a press conference yesterday in Lira city accused the NRM government of laxity to support developments in Lango, citing construction of Lango cultural palace that stalled, low road construction coverage that stands at only 3% and of late the construction of Akii Bua stadium whose construction could have contributed to development in Lango especially if the stadium is to host the upcoming Africa Cup Of Nations, 2027 edition.

Awany, threatened that if president Museveni and the ruling government fails to construct Akii Bua stadium he will stand a high chance of leaving the NRM government for marginalizing the people of Lango in development.

Awany rallied the people of Lango to raise funds and construct Akii Bua stadium on their own to host AFCON games and he opened the contribution towards this cause with a sum of one million shillings.

He has also given government 20 days ultimatum to explain to the people of Lango why they have failed to construct Akii Bua stadium.
