Alebtong district senior procurement officer arrested over alleged corruption

Investigators from the State House Anit-Corruption Unit have arrested the senior procurement officer of Alebtong district Susan Alok as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in awarding tenders to contractors.

Susan Alok was arrested this Yesterday at Alebtong district headquarters.

Alebtong district chairman Odongo recently accused Alok and others of conducting technical evaluation of tenders to be awarded in FY 2023/2024 illegally since they worked with people who were not mandated to sit in the evaluation committee.

Odongo said the technical evaluation committee was not sworn in and stopped the process of evaluating the tenders.

He then wrote to the state house anti-corruption unit and inspectorate of government to investigate the matter.

Later on, Odongo DK and other leaders of Alebtong district realized names of contractors awarded tenders pinned on the public notice board forcing DK Odongo to report the matter to police which instituted investigation onto the same.

Yesterday, investigators for the state house anti-corruption unit led by the senior legal officer Samuel Arinaitwe stormed Alebtong to investigate the matter which saw the arrest of Susan Alok the senior procurement officer of Alebtong district.

Arinaitwe confirmed the arrest to Voice of Lango FM who was made to record statements to aid investigation.
