PAG Mission hospital has received 600 million shillings theatre.
The theatre named; Dr. Herbert Theatre has three rooms and its construction was funded by well-wishers led by Dr. Herbert from Germany.
The Medical superintendent of PAG Mission Hospital Dr. Dickens Ogwal said they are receiving many patients seeking surgical operations and expressed hope that the theatre will help to decongest Lira regional referral hospital.
Dr. Ogwal said the hospital will offer various services including operation for crash victims.
He however said the hospital is receiving little funds to support payment of their staff, and only one theatre room is currently equipped and their ambulance is also not in good mechanical state which has affected patients’ referral.
Lira city principal medical officer Dr. Bernard Otucu said the theatre will bring orthopedic services closer to the people of Lira and will reduce their chances of moving to places like Kumi and Gulu for these services.
Dr Otucu pledged to offer one of the city ambulances to PAG mission Hospital.
He asked the hospital leadership to offer affordable services to patients visiting the facility.
Board chairman PAG Mission Hospital Rev. Franco Onaga said they are working towards making the facility a model hospital in this region.
The daughter to Dr. Herbert, Dr. Priscilla challenged the health workers of the facility to put the lives of patients first above everything.
