Police of Lira City East division have arrested a UPDF officer over defilement of a minor whose education he was sponsoring.

Lt. Col. Stephen Aine Mugisha was arrested last Friday and taken to Lira central police station where he is being held as investigation against him continues.

Aine Mugisha reportedly got the girl who is now 18 years old from her mother with a promise of sponsoring her education at St. Katherine Girls secondary school but has since been forcing her into sex.

Lira City East division police commander Godfrey Abigaba when contacted for comments referred us to the North Kyoga region police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema.

But Okema said he had not yet got detailed information on the matter.

The deputy OC CID of Lira City East Division confirmed the arrest of Aine Mugisha.

It is reported that the girl who is an orphan had been looking after pigs belonging to an unidentified woman at Lira barracks and was picked up by Aine and taken to his home in Teso Bar after he promised to pay her school fees and has been studying at St. Katherine Girls secondary school.

Aine is however reported to have been forcing her into sex and threatened to kill her, should she report the matter to the public.
