City lawyer Krispus Ayena Odongo installed as supreme clan chief

City lawyer and former Dominic Ongween’s lead counsel Krispus Ayena Odongo has been installed as the supreme clan chief of Palamyek at a ceremony presided over by Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii in Iceme, Oyam District.

Ayena Odongo who also served as Oyam North Member of Parliament was elected unopposed as the supreme clan chief of Palamyek in October 2021 to replace the fallen clan chief Jebidayo Atim.

Speaking at the event, the Lango Paramount Chief, Yosam Odur Ebii asked the people of Lango to educate their children in order for them compete favorably with people from other regions.

He said the level of education in Lango is fast dropping, which calls for more effort to improve the same.

Yosam Odur said Ayena Odongo is a highly experienced clan leader who is well conversant with cultural matters.

He said Ayena Odongo was instrumental in fighting to restore peace in northern Uganda when he was appointed lawyer by LRA leader Joseph Kony.

Bishop of West Lango Diocese Rt. Rev Ceaser Nina Otim decried disunity in Lango which is frustrating development of the region.

Lango parliamentary Group chairperson also Kole District woman MP Judith Alyek tasked cultural leaders to fight domestic violence which she says is responsible for increasing cases of murder among married couples.

In his maiden speech, Krispus Ayena Odongo pledged to unite the clan members.

Ayena says he will ensure the rights of the widows and orphans are protected during his tenure.
