NRM chairman arrested over theft, threatening violence

Police at Oyam Central Police Station is the holding the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairperson of Aleka Sub County, Tom Acuma over allegation of theft, threatening violence and malicious damage.
Acuma is accused of participating in the burning of houses in Aleka Sub County between January and February this year.
According to a source who pleaded for anonymity, one of the people who was working at the home of Acuma hit one of the people they were drinking alcohol with a chair before he ran into some house from where he hid and hanged himself.
After the incident, Acuma and five others went and destroyed property at the home where his employee committed suicide and also burnt down houses and threatened the family members.
Police later arrested five people who revealed that they were mobilized by Acuma Tom to commit the crime.
Philips Ogile Jakayo the NRM spokesperson of Oyam district confirmed Acuma’s arrest and said he is being detained at Oyam CPS.
Oyam Resident district commissioner, Williams Komakech said he had not yet got concrete information of the arrest of Acuma.
