Assistant DPP Found Dead at Her Home
Authorities in Kasangati Division have launched an investigation into the sudden death of Fatumah Bbuye Nabiwemba, an Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, who was discovered dead at her residence after not being seen in public for four days.
Nabiwemba’s body was found at her home in Wampeewo, located within Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso District. Her death was reported to police on Thursday evening, around 8:36 p.m., by Hamuza Kabanda, a driver at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, preliminary findings suggest the 47-year-old had not been seen at her workplace for approximately four days before the discovery was made.
A police team led by the Division Police Commander carried out a search at the scene and recovered several items as part of the ongoing investigation. Nabiwemba’s body was subsequently transported to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions later issued a statement confirming the death of their colleague, with DPP spokesperson Jacquelyne Okui extending condolences.
Reports by Daily Monitor provide additional context, revealing that Nabiwemba had long struggled with post-natal depression. In a 2018 interview, her husband, Dr. Ibrahim Sendagire, disclosed that she had suffered serious mental health challenges following the death of their infant child at just two and a half months old. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is still ongoing.
