Government to unveil Akii Bua Staduim contractor on Thursday

Government will on Thursday 29th February 2024,unveil to the nation detailed plans about the long awaited construction of Akii Bua Stadium.

A deep close source who is privy to the developments, told Voice of Lango FM that a team of senior government officials led by the Minister of state for sports Peter Ogwang, state house staff, board members of National Council of Sports and FUFA will be in Akii Bua stadium, Lira City East division, to unveil to the public, the contractor, date of ground breaking ceremony and the source of funds that will be used for the construction of the stadium.

According to the source, government has secured funds and has hired a renowned Egyptian construction company to develop the stadium which will have the capacity to accommodate over 50,000 spectators

Attempts to get more information from the Minister of state for sports Peter Ogwang were futile as he pledged to return Voice of Lango repeated calls back but by the time of filling this story he had not yet done so.

But the National Council of sports board member Moses Anyii Omara confirmed to Voice of Lango FM that a joint team comprising of state house staff, ministry of education and sports and National council of sports will be at Akii Bua stadium on Thursday.

According to Anyii, the team will also meet Lira City and district leaders,business community and address the media.

In 2023, during President Museveni’s end of year media engagement, told the nation after Voice of Lango’s journalist asked him that he is the vision bearer for Akii bua stadium.

Museveni pledged that the stadium will be constructed and he will ensure that it is done.
