PAG East Lango Pastorate elects Bishop today

The Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) East Lango Pastorate is expected to elect a new Bishop today Wednesday.

East Lango pastorate covers the six districts of Lira City, Lira, Dokolo, Amolatar, Alebtong and Otuke.

Rev. Silvanus Ogwal who is the presiding Bishop is serving his two, four year term but is eligible for re-election.

Rev Ogwal took over from Bishop Joel Mukalu who later broke ranks with the churcg and established Yahweh Pentecostal Mission.

A knowledgeable source who is at the center of the election but asked not to be named, says over 300 delegates have already converged at PAG Worship Center Lira City, where the elections will be held.

According to the source, delegates will nominate 7 elders who will constitute the Electoral College.

The Electoral College will elect two people from the nominated candidates as Bishop and Secretary to the pastorate.

The mission coordinator will also be elected today by the delegates drawn from different areas of the pastorate.

For one to qualify to become the Bishop, he should be an ordained minister with high moral standing, 40 years of age and should also possess Degree in Theology or Divinity from recognized institution.
