Dokolo Woman arrested over dumping sister in-law’s child in pit latrine

Police of Awiri outpost in Dokolo Sub County, Dokolo District are holding a woman who allegedly threw her sister in law’s child in a pit latrine.
The suspect, Sandra Awino according to report was taking care of the child together with her husband in Awiri.
The officer in charge Awiri Police outpost Margate Abura said Awino was arrested on Wednesday adding that the police is investigating the circumstances under which she threw the child into the pit latrine.
Abura said Police upon receiving a report on the matter swung into action and retrieved the child from the 60 feet pit latrine and rushed her to Awiri health center for treatment.
Upon interrogation, Abura said the suspect told Police that she is usually attacked by “evil spirits” that hypnotize her to become aggressive.
He said health experts will assess the suspect’s mental state to ascertain if he is mentally up right.
Abura added that the suspect also tried to strangle another child recently.
Milly Ajwang the grandmother to the child said they found him abandoned in the pit latrine after a long search for him in vain.
