Lira city west division Mayor, Amolo Rose Ongom has accused some of her executives of indiscipline.

Speaking at the division council meeting on 4/06/ 2024 held at Zeagans Hotel, Mayor Amolo said such action by her executives is affecting her job.

This came after some of her executives including Otine CP, secretary for production and marketing, Denis Adyebo Oyee, the secretary for education and health indulged in a verbal exchange after Otine disowned a document indicating how the division utilized funds, arguing that it was not presented at the executive committee meeting.

The division secretaries who include; Cypriano Otine, Denis Adyebo Oyee, Zena Opolot and Amolo Rose Ongom were appointed by former mayor of Lira city west division, the late Michael Ogwal Aconga.

Rose Ongom was affirmed as the acting Mayor of Lira City West Division until 2026 when the electoral commission organizes another election.

Her Worship, Ongom, acted in the capacity of Mayor of the division for over six months after the Lira City West Mayoral seat fell vacant following the death of Division Mayor, Michael Ogwal Achonga last year 2023.

Recently, the Minister of Local Government Raphael Magyezi in his letter dated April 10th, 2024 to the acting Mayor Rose Ongom, affirmed that Section 18(5) of the Local Government act CAP 243 provide that the deputy Mayor assumes the office of the Chairperson or Mayor until the Independent Electoral Commission organises a by- election.
