Four prisoners at Otuke Government Prison have tested positive to Mpox virus.
Otuke District Health Officer, Patrick Opio, confirmed this report, adding that the affected inmates are currently receiving treatment.
According to Opio, the four cases were identified after testing 18 inmates who were suspected of having contracted the disease.
Preliminary investigations suggest the virus may have been transmitted by a visitor who recently showed symptoms of the disease during a visit to the prison.
Opio has urged the public to remain vigilant and adhere to precautionary measures to prevent further spread of the Mpox virus.
