Lira City west deputy town clerk sentenced to six months over Shs 85M debt

The deputy Registrar of Lira High Court yesterday sentenced to six months imprisonment, the deputy town clerk of Lira City West Division, Levy Omara over a debt of 85 million shillings which he obtained from a businessman, Franko Eriyao who is the proprietor of Good Lord Hard Ware.

The deputy Registrar of Lira High Court, Ssalamu Geoffrey Ngobi in his ruling said Omara will serve his sentence but could be released once he pays the debt.

Omara who was arrested yesterday appeared in court and was consequently taken to Lira Government Prison where he will serve his sentence.

According to report, Omara got the money to buy produce.

Eriyao’s lawyer, Innocent Omara said Levy Omara will pay the debt plus the court cost.
