President of the National Unity Platform –NUP Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine has castigated the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government over failure to revive Lira Spinning Mill to create employment opportunities for the people of Lango.
Government privatized Lira Spinning Mill and offered the company to Jinda International Textile Cooperate Ltd (JITCO) in 2005 with hope of creating employment to 500 people, but it later collapsed.
In a radio talk show held at Voice of Lango yesterday, president of NUP Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu blamed NRM government for the collapse of Lira Spinning Mill which government has since failed to revive.
Bobi Wine also called for affirmative action to support the people of Barlonyo who witnessed the massacre of their relatives by LRA rebels and are yet to recover.
He also decried high interest rate on boda-boda loan, harassment of fishermen on Lake Kyoga by the army, and poor status of roads in northern Uganda.
Kilak south MP Gilbert Olanya called for a review of the constitution to allow the electoral commission to be recruited under civil service as opposed to it being appointed by the president to erase doubt about the credibility of the election.
