1,361 pupils fail pre-entry exams in Dokolo district

1,361 Primary six pupils have failed P.7 pre-entry exams in Dokolo District

Isaac Okoth the secretary, Dokolo District Examination board while releasing the results at Dokolo District Council Hall said 4,704 registered for the exams in the District this year.

Okoth said 167 pupils passed in Div 1, 1,033 Div 2, 939 Div 3, 1,204 Div 4, 1,361 were in Div U.

Private schools out performed government schools and among the best performing private schools are; The Grace,  Dokolo Central, St Mary’s , Anyatcoto and Kwera Lake View Nursery and primary school.

Among the best performing government schools are; Abyece, Apenyoweo, Oyirogole, Hassa Memorial, Abat and Iguli primary school.

James Ogwal Lima the chairperson Dokolo District Examination board decried failure by some schools to register for the exams.

Cones Okabo Opio the chairperson Dokolo District head teachers’ association on his part decried low support from parents and bureaucracy that is stifling implementation of various activities.
David Eryatu the Dokolo District education officer said they want each government school to produce at least 10 first grade in national exams.

Richard Madete the Chief Administrative officer of Dokolo asked parents to support the school feeding program to improve performance among learners.
       
James Otoo the LC5 chairman of Dokolo District said some parents are not complying with payment of school fees which is affecting performance especially in government schools.


Dokolo RDC Barbra Akec challenged government schools to compete with the private schools in performance.
