The Forum for Democratic Change party has Wednesday handed over her flag to Dr Rosemary Alwoch Ogwal, the daughter of the fallen MP, Barbara Cecilia Atim Ogwal for the Dokolo District Woman MP by-election race.

The electoral commission while unveiling the road map on Monday, confirmed that the by-election for the position of Dokolo Woman MP will be held on the 21st of March 2024.

Early last week, the FDC top leadership held a consultative meeting with Dr Alwoch Ogwal and her family on the possibility of making her carry the flag of the FDC for the much anticipated by-election.

While introducing Dr Alwoch, FDC says instead of holding primary elections to get the flag bearer the party opted for a consensus.

The party expressed confidence in Alwoch saying she has exceptional quality and she is willing to continue pursuing the initiatives that her late mother was deeply passionate about.

The party urged the people of Lango, especially those in Dokolo, to see in Dr. Alwoc as a fitting successor to the late Cecilia Ogwal.

Ogwal’s daughter will face off with 10 other aspirants including National Resistance Movement Party’s flag bearer Adongo Susan Elau, UPC’s Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, Irene Amongi Ajwika, Dr Sarah Lalam and others who expressed interest in the seat.

The seat fell vacant following the demise of the Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Atim Ogwal who served the district for nearly 17 years since its creation in 2006.
