The opposition Uganda People’s Congress party has said it will deploy all its campaign machinery in Dokolo District to ensure they get victory in the 21st March by-election.
According to the party, they will present strong flag bearers for nominations with confidence of delivering victory which will increase the number of legislators on the UPC ticket from the current ten to eleven.
Addressing a weekly press conference Monday morning at the party offices in Uganda House, Fazio Muzeyi the UPC head of media and communications says the party national leadership is working hand in hand with the local Party leadership to organize the Dokolo District Conference that will produce the UPC flag bearers for all vacant elective positions as declared by the Independent Electoral Commission.
Fazio added that the populace and members of the party shall be informed about the outcome of this process.
He asked the local party leaders in Dokolo District to give a close attention and participate in all electoral activities leading to polling days for special interest groups, local government council and the woman MP seat.
Muzeyi encourage the Party local leadership and members to start preparing the ground with immediate effect in line with the roadmap of IEC. This requires total vigilance, commitment, sacrifice, team work and organization on the side of the Party.
In 2021 general elections, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori who was the party’s flag bearer came third after Cecila Ogwal’s FDC who won and Sarah Adongo Elau of National Resistance Movement who clinched the second position.
Deep sources at the party headquarters say the party will field Sarah Aguti as their flag bearer in this by-election.
Dokolo people will vote as wisely as they did in 1962. Keep our spear and shield 🛡️; crafted for us by our Grandparents to confirm our existence in Uganda.
