Museveni offers to donate vehicle, cash to retiring Lango Chief

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has offered to donate a new SUV vehicle and unspecified amount of cash to the retiring Lango Paramount Chief Yosam Odur Ebii as he prepares to leave office in November 2024.

On 18.5.2023, Yosam Odur Ebii led a team of Lango Cultural Foundation Ministers and members of his close family to meet President Museveni at Barlegi State Lodge, Otuke district where the Wonyaci reportedly requested the President for a new vehicle and money as he prepares to leave office.

Prime Minister of Lango Cultural Foundation James Robert Ajal said they have received information that the president has donated to the Wonyaci a vehicle and unspecified amount of cash.

Ajal said they are yet to be informed on the date in which the president’s donation will be officially handed over to the Wonyaci.

The paramount chief currently uses a reconditioned suv which was donated to him over a decade ago by the President.

President’s senior press Secretary Sandor Walusmibi and his deputy, Farouk Kirunda did not answer our calls when we sought their comments on the matter.

Meanwhile, the re-instated cabinet of Lango Cultural Foundation in its first on Monday, has resolved to register with Uganda registration services bureau, its newly amended constitution.

The LCF information Minister Jacob Ocen told the media that the cabinet also resolved to have Won Nyaci meet all the relevant stakeholders including religious, cultural, and political and business fraternity as the later prepares to leave office in November this year.

The meeting will be held after Odur’s return from Kampala where he is currently living, following his discharge from Mulago specialized hospital where he was recently admitted with an illness.

Prime Minister Ajal said they also resolved that the election of new Lango paramount chief will go on as planned but with maximum adherence to the electoral roadmap issued by Lango cultural foundation as they wait for communication from ministry of gender about the vacancy of the new paramount chief to be filled.
